food substitutions

when i eat ice cream, i eat the whole tub. it's just what happens. i eat ice cream that way as well as pizza and i would honestly rather eliminate these things from my diet than modify the behaviour, so i've done that. i'm fine without pizza but i really do love ice cream. i know there's stuff like halo top or just pint size tubs of regular ice cream but they're so expensive. years ago i tried making 'ice cream' from frozen bananas but i don't think i did it right. a couple of months ago i gave it another shot and holy crap it's really good. i mean, at its core, it does just taste like a bunch of frozen banana, but the texture is 100%. if you add cocoa powder and peanut butter it really is passable as ice cream. it's amazing how many calories and how much sugar this cuts out. i'm trying out a bunch of alternative baking as well and trying to find recipes that sweeten mostly from fruit. there are a lot! i know it's still sugar even if it comes from fruit but there's at least some fiber and nutrition along with it so i can deal.
