Hi, everyone! I'm new here, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share my story / why I want to lose weight. I'm really excited to be a part of this community, you seem like a very positive and supporting bunch~
So... right now, I’m 25 years old, 5′8″, and 171 pounds. My ideal weight is 130 pounds, and that’s the ultimate goal I’ll be aiming for here... therefore, I've got 41 pounds to lose. Maintaining a healthy weight was never really a problem for me until a few years ago, when I lost a very close family member to cancer and started a stressful job immediately afterwards. I was extremely broken, unhappy, and stressed, and used food as an unhealthy coping mechanism. That's how I gained all this weight - depression and emotional eating. It isn't "happy fat" and that's a big part of why I want to lose it. Nowadays, I’m thankfully out of that stressful job, and I’ve been going to therapy and taking a great mix of antidepressants that have really been working for me, so I’m in an ideal place to start losing this weight. I just want to get rid of the physical reminder of that dark and painful time I went through and get back to my normal, healthy self. I also just want my old body back - I used to be proud of what I saw in the mirror and it just makes me sad that that isn't true anymore.
So! Here’s my plan. My TDEE, at my height and weight and with a sedentary activity level, is 1,878 calories per day. I’ll be aiming to eat 1200 calories per day, and if I stick to that goal I should be able to lose about 1.4 pounds per week. I've been able to do this over long periods in the past, so I think it's an attainable goal for me. I'm posting here to help keep myself accountable, so I'll be posting a little weekly update every Sunday with a summary of how I did. Hopefully this will help me stay on track!
Well, thank you for reading this, and I wish all of you luck in your journeys as well!
