Does anyone have any tips on how to stop eating dessert every night?

I’m a healthy weight and overall happy with how my body is, but I always think I can be or do better in certain areas.

I meal prep and eat pretty well throughout the day and then basically eat what I want for dinner (within reason). But after dinner, I crave sugar. Almost every single time. Growing up, it was habitual that my mom had a huge bowl of ice cream every night after dinner and I’ve never been able to break the habit.

The rational part of me is like “Would you go out for ice cream or cake every night? Of course fucking not! That’s not healthy!” Yet, if I have it in the house, I crave it, fixate on it and once I’ve had it, the craving is gone and I’m satisfied.

I know I could just not keep it in the house, but I’m not the only person in my house and I also want to be able to just pass on it, even when it’s available. But the craving is just so fucking strong. I think I went 4 nights in a row last week without, which is good, but I was trying to make it the entire week.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
