[SV] I Just Hit 110 Pounds Lost, but I Still Have Hundreds More to Go

This is my first post on this subreddit, but I’m around 9 months into my weightloss journey. The winter of 2018/2019 I was the heaviest I’ve ever been, and I finally made the decision to start a drastic change in my eating and lifestyle. I looked at what I was eating, and realized that the most egregious factor was essentially my addiction to cereal. I would start out every morning with at least 2-3 large bowls of Reece’s Puffs Cereal, and even though it’s delicious I never felt good after eating it. Previously I’d tried to just have one bowl instead, but I would always eventually go back to having more and more. Of course there were other problems, you don’t get to be my weight by accident, but I knew that it was the very first thing that I had to change.

Originally I tried just not eating anything at all for breakfast, but I felt like that wasn’t sustainable. So I ordered some Protein Shake powder from Amazon, and instead of having three bowls of cereal I started out the day with a large iced coffee with a chocolate or vanilla protein powder as a creamer. I essentially went from over a 1,000 calories of sugary shit to 110 calories of protein filled iced coffee. I definitely had cravings and hunger pangs at first, but I fought through it and now 9 months later I don’t have any cravings for cereal, and love my morning protein coffee.

My other large eating problem I attacked was late night eating and snacking. I’ve never really eaten lunch, but my late night snacking would almost seem to take the place of a third meal. I again decided to not eat anything after 10pm and replaced that third hidden meal with a Protein Shake. Right away I started to lose weight, even before I added much more exercise. I was losing around 8-12 pounds a month at that time.

To further my weightloss and increase my health, I knew that the next step would be to move more, so along with lifting weights 1-2 times a week I added a short walk of my dogs every day. I increased the length of the walks as time went on, and in late spring I was also able to start swimming. At this point my weightloss increased to around 15-20 pounds a month. I’m doing all of the dieting and exercising completely on my own, and creating my own plans, but the closest plan is probably intermittent fasting. I don’t know if I would quite classify for it because of the protein shakes, but my entire solid food intake is within around 4 or 5 hours. I essentially eat whatever I want (within reason) for dinner, and that satisfies all of my cravings. I also sometimes have a healthy snack around 2 or so hours after dinner (yogurt, fruit, or some apple chips).

Currently, I just weighed in at 110 pounds down from my max at the beginning of the year, and it’s amazing how different I feel with everything I do day by day. I feel a little weird about posting my weight on my reddit account without using a throwaway because it’s still really high. I will say that even though I’ve lost 110 pounds, I have hundreds of more pounds to lose before I come even close to a healthy weight. Now I’m walking my dogs 0.5-1.5 miles a day, I’m swimming at least 1 mile a day, and I’m lifting weights (dumbbells and resistance bands) 3 times a week. The last time I was this weight was in 2010, and currently I know that I’m more muscular and healthier than I was in 2010.

I feel so much better right now at a hundred pounds down than I did at this time last year, so I almost can’t imagine what I’ll be like when I’m 200, 300, or 400 pounds down. The other hidden benefit of my losing weight is that my two Golden Retrievers Dawn and Cambria are also losing weight along with me, and of course they love the walks. My dogs also serve as excellent encouragement in walking every day, and if there’s any time when I’m tired, or don’t feel good, or just don’t want to go for a walk; seeing those huge brown eyes staring at me gets me out that door every time.

My current rate of weightloss is around 3.81 pounds a week, but my total average of weightloss for the year is 2.86 pounds a week. I don’t really have any full body progress pics because I hate looking at them, but here is a shoulders-up look at what the difference 110 pounds looks like: https://imgur.com/5kPOTRB and here’s a chart of my total weightloss so far: https://imgur.com/CYiCCKH Also, I don’t know if the subreddit allows posts to YouTube videos, but I have kept a record of my weightloss on my channel. Here’s my video at around 50 pounds down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04FyZC0t97s at around 75 pounds lost: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIm7R2uPIlQ and at around 100 pounds lost: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leO_neeZkhM Btw, even though I didn’t want to memorialize my weight in this post, I did reveal my weight in the newest video because the weight I was at has a special significance I wanted to talk about.

So thanks for reading, and if anyone’s interested I can try to keep updating my progress here as I continue to lose weight. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m one of the higher weights on /r/loseit so I just wanted to share how I’ve lost my weight so far, and show that no matter how much you weigh, if you start slow and change your lifestyle you can lose the weight. It’s not a fast process, but everything is more difficult when you’re obese, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the weight fall off of you bit by bit. Thanks :)
