Why am I not losing weight? 28/F, 295lbs, 5'10", CICO & exercise for 3 months

Ya’ll. I am FRUSTRATED. I cannot for the life of me lose any weight, and I’m about to lose all hope. I’m 28/F, 5’10”, 295lbs, I’ve been doing CICO and exercise for about 3 months, and I’ve actually gained weight, probably about 3lbs. I’m seeking any advice or insight as to why this might be happening.

I’ve been lurking in this sub for several months now, it’s been so helpful to read daily motivational stories and hearing what has worked for others. I would not say there has ever been a time where I was super committed to getting healthier until this year when I found this group. There have been MANY times where I have started diets, counting calories, exercising, etc, only for it to last about 2 weeks. This is the first time I have been committed to something for several months, and of course I am hoping to keep it going.

I’ve always been a curvier gal, but didn’t cross into obese until college. Over the past 10 years, undergrad and grad school, I have gained about 100 lbs. This is a combination of no longer being active in sports once in college, and then once I got to college, I ate like crap and started partying and drinking, and dealing with the stress of school by emotional eating. Since 30 is a little over a year away, I made it my goal in January to start losing the weight and being more active. I haven’t gotten around to actually remaining committed to a plan, until now.

I track what I eat (truly, I track/weigh everything!), I stay right at my caloric goal (1,670 based on MFP), I have given up soda and fast food, I make all my meals at home, trying to eat as much protein and veggies as possible. In August, I got a gym membership, and recently I have also been using the Couch to 5k app. For the most part, my schedule, my eating habits, everything in my life, is pretty consistent, and has been for the last few months. Yet when I step on the scale, there is usually no difference, or worse, I’ve gained weight. I wasn’t bothered by this during the first few weeks, I had read enough online to know that I might not see any difference while my body adjusts. But it’s been months, and I’m a few lbs heavier than when I started. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Does it just take this long to see even a 1 lb difference or lose water weight??

Maybe I’m overreacting? But part of me also thinks something might be wrong. It’s driving me crazy to feel like I have absolutely no control over my body. Should I see a doctor? I feel better now that I am eating better and I’m getting some cardio in every week. But it sucks that the scale has not shown any progress AT ALL. I’ve even weighed myself on different scales, and the result is always the same. What gives?

Truly appreciate any feedback. Finding this sub has been so so so helpful to me this year, thankful to be on this journey with you all.

TL;DR I’ve been doing CICO and regularly exercising for 3 months, and I’ve gained weight. :(
