okay so I started running last week very simple stuff. I started out at 30 s, 1 minute, 2 minute, and then 4 minutes on the treadmill using an ifit program.
However, I took 4 ish days due to finals.
Now I started back up, and did 2 minute intervals. Endurance was no problem, but the shin splints were TERRIBLE. I usually go for an hour but could only do 30 minutes.
I find this very odd because I had minimal soreness last week, heck I even did 4 minutes. My thinking is that either I killed my self doing 4 minutes and my shins were not healed properly (which is possible because when I was in the shower the other day they felt slightly bruised) OR taking days off set me back.
Just super frustrating because I’m fully devoted to running and my endurance has improved for the first time in my life and this happens...
my question to you all: why did this happen? How can I heal quickly? Should I stop running and do a less impactive cardio for now? PLEASE ALL ADVICE IS SUPER WELCOME AND APPRECIATED.
