Hey y’all, I’ve been doing IF 17:7 since Tuesday and I’ve been logging all of my calories. I’ve also been doing some working out. I notice that every day I end up about 175-300 calories below the 1200 I’m supposed to be at. I’m not doing it on purpose, I just like snacking more than eating a big meal so I’ll eat 50 cal here, 100 there, etc. I feel good and I’m not super tired or anything. Right now I’m easing back into exercise with 15 mins of cardio a night, and I’m a barber so I’m on my feet for 9-10 hours a day.
I’m vegan and try to get a ton of veggies in, and I’m cutting out most processed foods. For example today I ate a protein smoothie with peanut butter, banana, flax and chia seeds, almond milk, and protein powder for breakfast at 12. At around 3:30 I had a sandwich on seed bread with lettuce and tomato and a chickpea “tuna” spread I made thats a bit of veganaise, mustard, chickpeas, pickles, and tofu. I snacked on roasted broccoli and cauliflower dipped in hummus. I didn’t have time to eat “dinner” before my fast started at 7 so I stopped eating for the day at around 5. I’m comfortably full and I really only get super hungry at around 11.
I also drink a metric shitton of water, and have 1-3 cups of coffee a day.
Part of why I’m not hitting my calories is probably because I work either 8am-6pm or 10am-7pm, so I can only eat on my breaks and if I’m super busy towards dinner I just have to skip it, and my lunch break changes daily so sometimes I get a break for “breakfast” around 12 and lunch around 3, and if I’m off at 6 I’ll eat dinner at home, but if I get home late I don’t eat dinner.
I definitely have suffered from EDs in the past, and I sometimes find my disordered thinking trickling in and thinking that if I can eat a lot less calories than I’m allotted I’ll lose weight a lot faster, but this time around I know that’s not sustainable and I’m not doing that.
Is this ok or will it end up holding me back? Thank you.
EDIT: I feel like this post may end up seeming braggy, I just want to make sure y’all know that I know that staying under a cal limit is super hard, and when I’m not being mindful I’ll eat like 3000+ calories a day.
