Counting Calories Is Basically Pointless. So Why Are We Still Doing It?

Just ran across this article published today. Seems to cover all the usual criticism of CICO.

For me, logging my food has been exactly what I needed to accomplish their goals of:

  • Think about how what you eat makes you feel.
  • Tune in to what your body actually wants.
  • Eat more plants and whole foods.
  • Eat fewer processed foods.
  • Cook at home more.

The calorie count comes along for the ride, but isn’t the whole focus of my food log.
