Hi guys!
I haven't posted here before, but I've been around the sub since early December when I started. I love it and this sub is one of the things that helped me get started with losing the weight finally. I went through a pretty gnarly health situation, and part of that involved eating my feelings. I'm 36F 5'7" SW 225 CW 202 GW 150.
So this keeps happening to me and I don't really know how to respond to it because I just find it odd I guess? I am proud of my journey, but I don't share about it all of the time or annoy people with it. I recently joined a fitness group which I'm so pumped about. Everyone has been really supportive. However, someone asked something along the lines of "what are your goals?" and I said "to get in shape & I've got 50 lbs that I'd like to lose as well" and their response was "You don't need to lose that!". My parents have given me similar pushback. We are really close and they've been supportive overall, but my mother is very overweight as well. They've made comments along the lines of "you're not eating very much" and "that's a LOT to lose". That's not all that they've said - they have been very supportive and kind when I see them, but those other comments (especially from strangers) just really bother me.
I guess it just kind of pisses me off. If that's my goal then that's my goal and it's right in the middle of the healthy range for BMI. I guess I was just wondering if you had encountered anything like this. I'd appreciate your thoughts! Thanks.
