Okay, so forgive me if I'm being stupid but I'm not the best with all this stuff! I've read that starvation mode is a myth and that CICO is scientifically proven, but I'm not sure what's going on here.
So I've managed to lose almost 60lbs during my weight loss journey so far, and things have been going great until recently. Lockdown happened, I was put on furloughed leave from my job, and so I tried to use this as an opportunity to lose a decent amount of weight before I go back to work. I started by cycling 6-8 miles per day for 6 days a week while eating about 1700 calories a day. Weight and measurements stayed the same for a month.
I then thought I needed to switch things up and cut my calories to no more than 1340 calories a day while doing a mix of cardio and strength training every day. I've been measuring my solid foods with scales and tracking everything I eat in MFP. I take Huel as a meal replacement for my lunch and I skip breakfast as I do 16:8 intermittent fasting every day.
Mathematically, I should definitely be losing weight, at least 1lb a week, so how come it's not happening? Is it possible that I am indeed in starvation mode and my body is retaining fat?
A few details about me:
- Age: 28
- Sex: Female
- Height: 5'6"
- Current weight: 204lbs
- Exercise: 6 days a week for 0.5 - 1 hour
- Net calories over the last 7 days: 1092*
- Net calories under weekly goal: 1739*
*Data taken from the last 7 days on MyFitnessPal
Once again, forgive me if I'm asking a silly question. I promise you I'm tracking everything that goes into my mouth and I'm also measuring everything out with scales and measuring cups.
