Resisted temptation despite two injuries and the wrong ingredients..! (NSV)

On mobile so sorry for formatting!

So tonight I really wasn't feeling like cooking. My last recipe pre food-shop was a complicated one and not only am I experiencing my "Aunt Irma visiting" right now but I've also been plagued by mosquitos for two nights straight and probably got about 7 hours sleep altogether in the last 48-72.

So I'm running on empty, had a pretty low cal lunch because I was too lazy/tired to make a real one, and I'm hormonal as all hell. Then I realise I bought coconut MILK, not coconut DRINK, for my recipe. I google it and coconut drink (the one I was supposed to get) is 20kcal/100ml while coconut milk can be as much as 250kcal/100ml.

I'm disheartened, but I decide not to give up yet. So I head to the small convenience mini-mart downstairs from my apartment. They only have coconut milk or coconut oil. No good.

At this point I make excuses and say to my boyfriend "well really the calories would almost be as bad as a takeaway by this point, and it's super complicated to cook" and we agree that we'll order a takeout in a little while. 10 minutes later I'm sitting on the couch, I haven't even ordered anything yet but I have this nagging feeling. I KNOW I can make this work.

I take another look at the coconut milk I bought. It's light! 60kcal/100ml. Not as good as I had planned but I can make it work. If I split the original 600ml in the recipe in half and use half water, that's not far off the original calories. OK. I can do this.

Start prepping dinner. Am halfway through going back and forth from the bin to peel/throw away unused vegetable parts when "OUCH". Glass in my big toe. What the hell? How is this possible? I broke that bottle WEEKS ago. Pro-tip: never EVER get light marble flooring in your house.

So I've stabbed my foot. There's a hole right through the skin you could stick a small bar piercing through. Ouch. Plaster. Okay, it hurts, but I'll continue.

I cook, cooking is a mess. The sauce is everywhere. My coconut milk concoction is all over the oven. It looks like a small coconut exploded in here. I'm messing about trying to pour in the last of the sauce ingredients when I knock the bottle of sweetener (about 500g) off the counter and it hits me, dead on, on my OTHER big toe.

Blinding pain. Turns out the sweetener jar is made of glass. Holy shit that hurts. I think my toe is broken. I'm feeling literally lightheaded from the pain. The recipe says simmer for 10 minutes, so I do. In more ways than one.

Finally, after much, much more mess and also a bite ON MY FOOT from some kind of small insect, I finish dinner.

Best damn chicken satay of my life.

My toe still hurts but I did it, Reddit. I spent 3 hours prepping and cooking dinner and ate it all and resisted the temptation to order a pizza. I'm going to go rest my feet now.
