Hello :)

This is my first post and a long one so please bear with me lol. I have struggled with extreme fatigue and low energy my entire life. This really makes it difficult to lose weight because it’s hard to exercise at all, and when I do exercise I can hardly make it past 20 minutes.

I’ve tried many times to lose weight with diet and exercise in the past 10 years. I’ve only been able to get down to my goal size once, but came very close a few years ago. I have always struggled with low energy and extreme fatigue since I was a teenager. I’ve been to several doctors who just tell me to take vitamins, exercise, get out in the sun. I have had lots of bloodwork done. Every test has always been normal. Last year I did have a test show high TSH levels and saw a specialist who tested further and found that my thyroid was inflamed but I wasn’t diagnosed with hypo or hyperthyroidism. I do believe it caused me to lose weight though because I dropped 10lbs fast & constantly had a low fever off 99+ and was always sweating. My thyroid levels are fine now and have been for the past year. I have bloodwork done every few months just to make sure everything’s good, and I am having bloodwork done on Friday to check everything again but this time I asked for a hormone panel. Is there anything else that I should ask my doctor to test for that could cause chronic low energy?

When I wake up I feel like I didn’t even get an hour of sleep regardless of how long I sleep. I NEVER feel well rested and I have to set a million alarms or I will fall back asleep. It takes me a good hour just to get out of bed. I always have some form of caffeine when I get up whether it’s coffee, espresso, energy drinks, etc. It usually gives me just enough energy to not feel sleepy, but sometimes it doesn’t help at all. I’ve tried eating different things for breakfast but find that whatever I eat will just make me more tired so I skip breakfast. Then as soon as I eat lunch, I get so tired I just want to take a nap. I’ve tried different supplements, I’ve tried adipex (phentermine). All they do is make my heart race and make me feel anxious.

Some basic info: I’m a 28 y/o female, 5’5 160lbs. I’ve always fluctuated between 140-155. My lowest weight was 122lbs at age 18/19 which put me at a size 2/4, heaviest weight was 165 size 12/14.

Before covid I was managing a hotel and was used to moving around a lot (inspecting and cleaning rooms, moving heavy boxes, etc) but I was laid off in March. I’ve been at home just laying around all day and night since and I’ve gained 12lbs. I’ve tried to lose weight 3 times with diet and exercise but every time I would get really sick about 2-3 weeks into it and I would just stop exercising completely. The only cardio I feel like my body can tolerate is the elliptical and walking at a fast pace/jogging. But I can only last about 20-30 minutes, on a good day I can do 60.

Supplements/meds: Suboxone 8mg, Wellbutrin XL 150MG, Zyrtec, women’s multivitamin, vitamin D, B-complex vitamin, evening primrose oil & saw palmetto (to reduce oily skin/acne), fish oil, turmeric, ginger and apple cider vinegar. I do NOT take any form of birth control.

Are there any other supplements I could try? Any other tests I could have done?
