Today I knew I was going to drink - I had a zoom happy hour with friends I have been looking forward to, so I planned my meals such that I would have 300 calories left for wine. After losing 40 lbs (and being in a calorie deficit), 2-3 glasses of wine had me as drunk as double that amount would have had me before losing the weight. This isn’t really a “victory” per se, but it reminded me how far I’ve come. I’ve been battling with the last 10 lbs for months, and tonight gave me some perspective. My body has changed for the better and deserves some grace getting to the finish line. Side note: I’m in no way advocating for excessive drinking or consuming too few calories in order to fit in booze. I know today wasn’t the healthiest of days, but it was an exception and I was very careful to ensure I had adequate nutrition for breakfast and lunch, and I’ll give myself a maintenance day tomorrow if I feel like I need it.
