How to track while avoiding obsession or stress?

I'm curious if anyone has this problem. Where you go back and forth between tracking and not tracking your food, mostly because of how all consuming and obsessive tracking your food becomes?

For me, it's not just a matter of tracking what I eat, and moving on. So it may just be part of my personality honestly. But when I get "on track", that's basically all I think about. All my free time is spent thinking about food and tracking food and checking the forums and finding new people to follow on YouTube and Instagram, I obsessively weigh myself, and it just keeps going on and on.

I thought about just trying to watch my portions and NOT tracking, since by now I have done it long enough where I know what my healthy meals should look like. But that ALSO caused stress lol. So it's kind of like - ok, which form of mental distress do I feel like dealing with?!

If any of you deal with this, have you found any little tricks for just finding balance between tracking what you eat/your exercise, but not becoming completely consumed by it?
