So in November 2016 I was at 376.6 pounds (5'11" 32 year old male). I finally went to the doctor for help and got on trt. From then to January of this year I went down to 240 pounds, a 136.6 pound loss in one year. This year I backslid somewhat to about 280, and was horrified to realize I had done so. I started running in September of 2018, and in July of this year I got serious about it and ran 100 miles that month; 151 miles in August ; and I'll probably get around 110-120 this month.
At first the loss came reasonably: I dropped to 265 by the third week of August. Then it slowed down to a crawl for seemingly no reason. I wasn't cheating my diet and I was more active than ever but I was barely losing anything, 0.6-0.8 per week. Then last week I suddenly gained 7 pounds up to 269, which really messed me up. But I kept running, kept counting calories and while I was honestly super salty about it I didn't let it psyche me into changing what I was doing.
This week I lost 19 pounds, down to 250.1. Out of nowhere, when I was feeling down and like I must be messing up to not be getting results, I hit my short term goal weight. Now I have my sights set on getting back to my all time low and making progress on that number again.
My point in posting this is: our bodies are crazy. Sometimes you'll not see the result you want for weeks even though you're sticking to your plan. Don't let these weeks make you give up or change what you're doing because you think it isn't working. Just keep going and know that you are doing the right things.
Also I'm pretty happy to be back so close to my all time low again and just felt like posting about it somewhere! 😛
