Hey Friends -
Long time lurker, first time poster.
My endocrinologist has told me that I need to lose 40 pounds to get my BMI into a safer place. I see an endocrinologist because I had my ovaries removed in 2017 due to long-standing issues with endometriosis.
I’m 36, F, 220lbs, 65”. I currently take Effexor XR 300mg and supplement estrogen. My blood pressure is normal. I am not diabetic or prediabetic.
The weight has been creeping on steadily since about 2014. It was the beginning of the end of an abusive marriage and the year that I started meds for anxiety and OCD. Zoloft at first and a lovely 25lbs, Effexor second and the second 20-25lbs. Meds are only part of it though. Stress eating, stress drinking, chronic pain, and the like all play in and I get that.
I’ve legitimately tried keto, Weight Watchers, and basic food tracking. Low carb in some form is my endo’s preference. To date, I haven’t been successful in losing more than 5-7lbs at a time. I generally lose interest and, well, here I am.
I feel like I know all of the things I need to do, all of the things I want to do, and my life is finally in a stable place, so it shouldn’t be that hard, but wow, I’m totally stuck.
The number seems big. The effort seems massive. I’m nervous af about getting started and I don’t understand why.
Anyone have tips on how to get over my anxiety about this and get going??
