My painfully simple tip on how to account for unexpected office food!

This one trick saved me tons of stress and calories.

If you work in a food-happy office like me, you know how difficult it can be to watch your calories. Nevermind the fact that my days are spent mostly on my butt from 9 AM - 5 PM, but on top of that we have (what seems like) a constant stream of free food.

Donuts here, candy there, chips here, BBQ lunch on Friday! Some weeks it seems that there's a battle for who can supply our office with the most free food!

And damnit, it's stressful sometimes! How many calories are in a Timbit, anyways? If I have 8 potatoe chips (the largest ones I can grab without digging my paws through the whole bowl), how many calories is that? How about these home-baked cookies?! Can I afford to eat this?!

When I finally set a rule for myself that I would NEVER eat free office food, a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I never again would have to worry about how many unplanned calories I had consumed. I never had to consider if I could fit this unexpected treat into my daily allowance. I could just politely refuse any free food in the office and now I'm back in control.

For one year I have not had a single bite of free food in this office. Remember that nothing in life is "FREE", so if you take that cookie, while you did not pay for it financially, you will pay in another way.
