So a quick intro about me: I'm 27 years old, 5'7", female, and hit 263lbs (my all time heaviest) on Jan 1 2020. When I saw the 263, I decided I needed to change something, not for superficial reasons, but because I was terrified for my overall health and the path I was heading down.
This is when I discovered reddit and immediately got invested in the real, raw advice (and not the sugar coated articles about how EASY losing weight is). I made a plan and I started counting calories and going to the gym 2x a week (OrangeTheory!). I easily knocked off 5 lbs (probably water weight, looking back) and settled at 258lbs in the first week of January.
HOWEVER, since then I hadn't lost a dang pound. Almost a month and a half of working out (now up to 4x a week, with 2x OrangeTheory and 2x strength training) and CICO. I weighed myself every morning, and every night and had become increasingly demotivated. The only thing that kept me going was that working out has helped enormously with stress from work. I decided, for my own mental energy, that I'd stop weighing myself this week and give my brain a break. I finally stepped on the scale this morning, after not weighing myself for ~4 days and lost 8 FREAKING LBS! I got my fiancé to come into the bathroom to confirm the scale wasn't broken lol!
I had read about this "woosh" factor but I guess it means a lot more to see it/ live it. So I wanted to share this little story for all the beginners, such as myself, who might be experiencing the same thing (especially with weight training). Stick with it, remember how good eating cleaner and working out feels, and we can all do this! I know I have a long way to go but I'm so excited for the journey :)
