Think about how proud the old you would be of you now.

I've recently been training for a half-marathon, and while out on my run today I was a little disappointed I wasn't at the pace some of my previous runs were. This had me feeling a little down, until I passed by the old apartment building I used to live in. Back then, I couldn't run a single mile without being drenched in sweat, my feet in immense pain, and unbelievable side stitches and cramps. Now I'm on a 14 mile run after doing 7.5 yesterday and 13.5 the day before. And it's not like I have to run these miles, it's something I'm doing for the fun and accomplishment of it.

If me from back then could see the person I am now, they would not believe it, and then after they did I think they would be so proud. He was 280 lbs, got winded walking up inclines, and wore hoodies in 80 degrees weather because he was so ashamed of his body. I am now 170 lbs, run 10+ miles for fun, and regularly have my heart rate drop below 40 bpm in the night.

But I'm also so thankful for him, because he's the one who decided to make a change. He made the difficult decision to change his diet, go to the gym despite the looks, and put in the hard work. I can't let him down now.
