"I Felt Like Rip Van Winkle": One of First U.S. Doctors With COVID-19 Is Back Home

Dr. Ryan Padgett is back home in Seattle after a 24-day hospitalization for COVID-19. He was one of the first American health care workers to develop a life-threatening case of the disease.

He was the unnamed doctor in his 40s reported to be clinging to life, one of the earliest cases of an American health care worker laid low by COVID-19. He says timely medical interventions saved him.
