This is basically an internal dialog I went through for like an hour laying in my car after compiling all my thoughts and having just mostly finished "the obesity cure"
I hope you guys can read through it and basically correct any assertions that are wrong. Im REALLY slow to learn but I want to understand this greatly. Seriously, i am dense.
Ok, the copy and paste from my dialog phone notes. I'll note which parts are counter arguments to myself with a "(+)"
Dr. Jason Fung says that calories have nothing to do with fat loss, it's insulin that makes us fat because we've recently started eating more without breaks since the 70's and that keeps insulin perpetually high and energy constantly is being stored as fat instead of being burned and not undergoing conversion into fat.
"I still maintain the idea that calorie tdee and bmr matters, so I dont understand how if I BURN 2500cals a day for my tdee I am to lose weight if my bmr is 2400cals? Technically I'm at a 100 calorie deficit, but surely eating 2400 calories a day whilst BURNING 100 won't get me down 90lbs to reach "not obese?""
"(+) I'm assuming my bmr will drop alongside my weight lose if I keep up with the 100 calorie deficit + IF and drop the weight after a million years /s, but also my tdee will follow relatively close seeing as I want to keep it simple at first while being sedentary and making sure diet/fasting is sorted first. I want to make sure weight is lose that way first."
so after like a million years, say my weight goes from 260 to 255 on the 100calorie deficit, do I just monitor for a plateau and see if my weight starts to go up to know when to eat LESS? if so, wouldn't I THEN be EATING at a calorie defiect and be operating suboptimally with less brain power, lower blood sugar, blah blah, the stuff that happens when you EAT under your "BMR?"
"(+)So, is the plateau caused by my bmr having dropped because my adjacent body weight aslo dropped? If true, that means that eating less food WONT give you any sort of gnarly side effects?"
:Heres where I tried to form some axioms:
The idea: -Eat exact bmr -Fast to keep insulin down -Tdee will naturally be higher than bmr even if slightly, normally -Weight WILL be lost -monitor weight lose. if it platueas, your bmr is just lower now due to weightloss so you can effectively calculate your new bmr and safely EAT less, minus any gnarly detriments. all of this presuming youre eating "right" to begin with.
:Heres some more questions / ideas I was assuming true:
-EATING under your bmr to achieve a caloric deficit is BAD?
-EATING at your bmr but BURNING extra calories is GOOD?
-Can i effectively stabilize at any weight i want to, say 155 or even 255 if i just eat at that weight's tdee WHEN i arrive there through the IF/no EATING deficit process?
Sorry, if this all gets squished when I publish it, mobile reddit doesn't have bullets and spacing I don't believe.
