I was diagnosed with pretty severe hypothyroidism when I was 16. I don't think much of it, I just take my Synthroid every morning and get on with my day, other than the occasional blood test to check my thyroid levels.
My weight has fluctuated over the course of my life, though I have always been big, even as a baby. I have half-assed dieting and exercising here and there, often trying calorie counting but finding I would get hungry on 1200 calories a day.
I'm making a genuine effort to exercise 5 days a week (Walk at Home workout videos with 3 miles a day) and watch my portions/calories (aiming for 1500-2000). I've been at this since the beginning of July and I have only lost 5 lbs, though I have lost inches. I'm feeling very discouraged and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I have heard hypothyroidism can slow down weight-loss but if weight-loss is just CICO it shouldn't matter, right? I've looked at online support groups for hypothyroidism and so many people say they can't lose weight. Now I'm starting to wonder if that is what is not working.
Have any of you with hypothyroidism lost weight? Any tips?
