Some questions about alternate day fasting keto diet

I'm a pretty big guy. Considerably overweight but have a good bit of muscle under all of my fat. I've been doing alternate day fasting for about week now. 36 hour fast, 12 hour eat, no carbs other than dietary fibers. I can't tell if it's supposed to feel this, I don't even know how to put it, wrong.

My muscles and joints feel sore like I've done a full body workout after a fast day. I feel so weak like even flexing takes more energy than I have. I can't sleep on fast days because my body's just begging me to go out and find food and I can't shut down. Towards the night my stomach hurts and I wake up from the pain when I do manage to sleep. In the mornings it kills. On my eat days, eating just outright hurts for my first meal and I want to throw it up. I later end up eating way more because I know I'm not going to be allowed a meal for the next 36 hours.

I can stick by a consistent low calorie intake no problem. From what I've read, fasting dips metabolism less and helps with plateaus. Is what I'm feeling something everyone feels at the beginning of this diet? Should I just switch to a lower daily intake or tough it out until I normalize? What am I doing wrong? Is it overeating on my eat day? Am I not drinking enough water on my fast day? I've been supplementing with a multivitamin, multimineral, saltwater, and 0 sugar electrolyte mix on days I don't eat. I just need some advice because this feels like I'm doing my body so much harm but maybe I'm just really not used to fasting.
