New to all of this- but so excited about this and I want to share!
One year after quitting competitive swimming in college (F, 5’8, 20) and I’m finally feeling CONFIDENT again! Even though I swam at college for my freshman year, I gained a lot of weight from poor nutrition and lost any tone that I had in my body, also gaining 10 pounds. After quitting I told myself that I would try to lose weight, but I kept slipping up and ended up gaining another few on top of that. Finally, this summer I have been very disciplined about what I’m eating and regularly working out, I have lost 8 of those 15 pounds and am starting to see my tone come back (HW 175 ish lbs, CW 167, GW 155)! I went through a long mental rut last year (first year quitting, aka as a “swammer) and I know that poor body image was part of it. I’m excited now though because I feel confident, beautiful & proud of how I look & I’m even more motivated to keep on pushing! Finally feeling like ME again!! If I were asked to give a bit of advice- watching portion sizes has been a huge change for me, and drinking a big glass of water before each meal helps prevent over eating (for some anyway, definitely not a bad thing to try out).
